I am an owner of a small business and to be completely pushed out of competitive bidding process that I do all the time is an insult. How can we stand by and let the governement not only take our tax money and missappropriate it time and time again, but to not let projects go out to competitve bid for the best price just to give them (contracts) to a MBE that is designated by the SBA is ridiculous. I was told today 3/4/09 about a project in the Northeastern PA that was posted on the internet for the USCOE and was told by the adminstrator that I could not bid this project and that the SBA designated a contractor already. I asked her a question that she could not answer and it was "How can the governement take taxpayer money which I pay and not at least my company and others bid on it legally?" What would the NAACP if this were reveresed and it was only White contractors that could bid on these projects? And yes I know white people have advantages what a cop out life is what you make it's not what you are given do skin color. The way I got to where I am at now is by hardwork and a good work ethic and by not letting anbody tell me I can't do it. I love america and everthing it stands for but our government is letting us down time and time again when will we wake up and see it?
