Muckleshoots purchase Salish Lodge

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

The Muckleshoot Tribe has agreed to purchase the Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie. The sale price has not been made public. This article states, “The Muckleshoots beat out several others seeking to acquire it, including the neighboring Snoqualmie Tribe. Snoqualmie Falls is sacred to the Snoqualmie Tribe, which regards the site as its birthplace.

The Snoqualmie Tribe is building a 170,000-square-foot casino near Snoqualmie; it’s expected to open in November 2008.”

Several articles appeared earlier this year about Snoqualmie’s desire to purchase this property. It comes as a surprise to me that the Muckleshoots purchased it instead. Perhaps they will sell the property back to Snoqualmie once the Tribe’s casino opens and makes money.

A close Tsimshian friend spent many summers at this lodge parking cars. He made good money and even met several celebrity guests.
